Douglas L. Case, 87, of 1467 South Ave. Lewis Run, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at The Pavilion at BRMC.
Born June 25, 1926 in Indian Creek he was a son of the late Charles and Myrtle (Mather) Case.
On August 7, 1948 in the Derrick City United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Klinger he married Arlene L. (Bailey) Case, who died on July 28, 2012.
Mr. Case attended Eldred and Lewis Run Elementary Schools and Bradford Area Jr High and graduated from Bradford High Schools.
On September 19, 1944 he enlisted in the United States Navy, served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII and was honorably discharged on August 26, 1946.
He had worked as an electrician for Kendall-Witco Refinery, retiring in 1987 after 31 years of service.
Mr. Case was a member of the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church and Northern Star Lodge # 555 F&AM in Duke Center.
Surviving is one daughter in law, Dr. Patrice Case of Naples Florida, two granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Case of New York City and Dr. Emily Christine (Dr. Michael) Ayers of Philadelphia two sisters Alice Slavin of AZ and Marian MacFarland of Feasterville, one special friend and caregiver Sandy Ekas, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter Peggy Jo Case who died December 22, 1969, one son Dr. Gary D. Case who died December 17, 2011.
Family will be receiving friends on Monday June 16, 2014 from 10:00am to Noon at the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church in Lewis Run, at Noon funeral and committal services will be held with Rev. Larry Corner, Pastor officiating. Military Honors and burial will be in McKean Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
