Jean M. Mathys

Jean Marie Mathys, 90, of 1192 South Ave., Bradford, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Bradford Manor, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 2, 1924 in Cambridge MA, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Harvison) Conklin.

On January 1, 1947, she married Robert M. Mayo who died November 26, 1980. On May 19, 1984 she married John R. Mathys, who survives.

Mrs. Mathys was a 1942 graduate of Olean High School, and attended the University of Syracuse.

She was employed at Dresser Manufacturing for 19 years, retiring in 1989.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing the piano, traveling and motorcycling.

Surviving are two daughters, Pat (Ted) Wagner, of Stormstown, and Marcia (Jim) Fowler, of Mt. Alton, one son, Larry (Colleen) Mayo, of Frederick MD, five step daughters, Wendy Ward, Tricia Fultz, Leasa (Dennis) Maley, Beth (Randy) Race and Erin (Chris) Collins, four stepsons, Bob Mathys, Andy Mathys, John (Paula) Mathys and Steve (Sue) Mathys, six grandchildren, several step grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, many step great grand children and two great great grandchildren, two brothers, Robert Coles and Ed Frost, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Robert, one daughter Linda Cadman, one granddaughter Julia Miller, one sister Shirley Blauser and two brothers, John Coles and William Conklin.

Family will be receiving friends on Friday, June 20, 2014, from 11:00am to 1:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave. Burial will follow in McKean Memorial Park.
