Dennis Earl Nearing, 72, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother, of 580 Dolphine Drive, El Paso, TX, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 in El Paso.

Born August 9, 1941 in Bradford, he was a son of the late Robert J and M. Pauline (Anderson) Nearing.

On Nov. 2, 1991, he married Martha Simons Nearing.

He served in the U.S. Army and worked as an Elevator Safety Inspector until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Lincoln, Melinda and Piper; grandchildren, Brandon Davis and Payton Mook; a brother, Robert G. (Janet) Nearing; a nephew Eric (Barbara) Nearing and their children, Kyle and Matthew; two nieces, Victoria (Randall) Haight, their children, Kara and Graham, Cynthia (Stafford) Townsend and their children, Sarah and Sydney; step children, Robin Hallgren, Paul Smith and Stephanie Bettis, step grandchildren, Wesley (Angie), Kaygan, Cheyanne, David, Shannon, Kyle and Jeremy; step great grandchildren, Bianca and McKenzie; three brothers in law, and their wives and several cousins.

Friends are invited to call from 10 AM to 12 Noon, Saturday, June 28, 2014 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Avenue, where funeral services will be held at 12 Noon with Mark Briggs, officiating. Burial with full military honors accorded by the John Gertsch Memorial Lodge in Warren will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
