Florence Louise Willard

Florence Louise Willard, 88 of Derrick City, went to be with her Heavenly Father Sunday, August 3, 2014.
 
Born September 6, 1925 in Dallas City PA, she was a daughter of Gilbert and Hattie (Johnson) Curtis
 
She was a 1944 graduate of Otto High School.
 
On March 30, 1945 in Derrick City, she married Donald B. Willard who preceded her in death on  November 28, 2010.
 
 A lifelong resident of the area, she retired as postmaster of the Derrick City Post Office in 1987 where she served for over 30 years. 
 
She was a member of the Derrick City United Methodist Church, which is now part of Hill Memorial United Methodist Church.  She was very active in the community churches, playing the piano and organ for many area congregations. 
 
Along with her husband, she was a charter member of the Derrick City Volunteer Fire Department.  She and her husband also played accordions for many area functions.  She was a passionate gardener who in later years, enjoyed the rose gardens and botanicals provided by her youngest son Roy. 
 
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Duke Center.  She was also a member and past officer of Women of the Moose, Bradford Desk and Derrick, Bradford Business and Professional Women's Club and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. 
 
Her greatest source of pride was her loving family and spending time with them.  She will be greatly missed by her family who were blessed to have her in their lives. 
 
Surviving is one daughter, Darlene Louise (Edward) Lyons, of Duke Center, two sons, Francis Burnett (Marilyn Kornacki) Willard, of Lewis Run and Roy Gilbert Willard, of Dearing GA; six grandchildren, Dorette Lyons-McCracken, Donya Lyons-Mealy, Christy Clark, Crystal Willard, Matthew Willard, and Mark Willard; eight great grandchildren Gage Lyons McCracken, Colten McCracken, Tynan McCracken, D.J. Jamison, Brittany Jamison, Aiden Willard, Hattie Mealy, and Tessla Mealy; one great granddaughter, Ella Jamison and one brother Francis "Frank" Curtis of Loveland CO.
 
Family will be receiving friends from 3-6 PM, Friday August 8, 2014 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., East Main St., and again from 11:00am to 12 Noon, Saturday, August 9, 2014 in the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church, where funeral and committal services will be held at 12 Noon with Rev. Philip  Palutro, Pastor officiating. Members of the Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a service on Friday at 5:30 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hinsdale, NY.
 
Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
