Truman Richard Howes

Truman Richard Howes, 71, of 6 Potter Street passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at his residence. 

Born October 8, 1942 in Bradford, he was a son of the late Truman W. and Helen (Kehoe) Howes.

He was a 1960 graduate of Bradford High School. After graduation, he worked for Zippo Manufacturing for two years. 

In 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, served in the Vietnam conflict and was honorably discharged in 1982 after 20 years of service. 

After his military service, he worked for WCVB Channel 5 in Boston, MA as a chauffeur for the TV executives.  He then worked for Plaza Limousine Service, driving for sports stars and celebrities in the Boston, MA and Arlington, MA area. 

He was a member of Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, VFW Post #212, American Legion Post #108, the Disabled American Veterans and was a member and current Vice President of the Bradford Senior Center. 

He is survived by a brother, Gary Lynn (Anne) Howes, of Smethport and several nieces and nephews, including Joseph Salsgiver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Howes. 

Family will be receiving friends from 11 AM to Noon, Saturday, September 6, 2014 Emanuel Lutheran Evangelical Church where funeral and committal services will be held at Noon on Saturday, September 6th,  with Rev. Thomas Pierotti, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
