Charles L. "Charlie" Laubham, 70, of West Washington Street, passed Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center in Erie surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 21, 1944, in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Rupert and Charlotte (Kunz) Laubham.
On August 2, 1991 in Las Vegas he married Marian (Hazzard) Gardner-Laubham, who survives.
He graduated from Pittsburgh area schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1964. He was honorably discharged in 1967.
Mr. Laubham was employed by U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh for many years. He then worked as a correctional officer for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and retired from Western Penitentiary. After his retirement, he worked as a security officer for Zippo Manufacturing and then for the Seneca Allegany Casino.
He was a member of Franklin/St. John Trinity F&AM # 221, The Gourgas Lodge of Perfection out of Pittsburgh and The Crosby American Legion # 0976.
He was an avid hunter, and a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. He will be missed by his faithful walking companion, his dog, 'Buddy.'
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Tammy L. Gardner, of Bradford; a granddaughter, Katie I. Thiem; two sisters, Margaret Ann Laubham of Bradford and Susan McConnaughhey, of Colorado Springs; one brother, Rupert Laubham, of Munhall and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. Laubham in December 2003, one sister, Charlotte Kennicutte and one brother Ronald Laubham.
Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, September 20, 2014, from 10:00 to Noon in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., South Avenue where funeral and committal services will be held at 12:00 noon with Rev. W. LeRoy Beckes, retired pastor, officiating.
Memorials if desired may be made to the McKean County SPCA, The American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
