Anna Mae Wells

Anna Mae Wells, 81, of 213 Jackson Ave., passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born August 4, 1933 in Prentisvale, she was a daughter of the late John Benedict and Mary Elizabeth (Lander) Hahn. On January 2, 1954 in St. Raphael's Church in Eldred, she married William L. "Bill" Wells, who died March 3, 2010. She graduated from Otto Eldred High School. She worked for Sweeley's Drug Store at the soda fountain for a time before marrying her husband. After her children were raised, she worked at Archer's for 17 years until the business closed. She was an active member of St. Bernard Church and was Vice President of the Catholic Women's Club. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, The Catholic Widow's Club, The Y.M.C.A. and was treasurer of T.O.P.S. She is survived by two sons, Charles (Stanley Shor) Wells, of Brooklyn, NY and Stephen (Lori) Wells, of Winchester, VA; three grandchildren, Stephen John Wells II, Natalie Janet Wells and Amber Lee Wells; one great granddaughter, Hannah Marie Wells; three brothers, Lloyd Hahn of Hamburg, NY, Greg Hahn of Boston, NY and Jack Hahn of Bradford and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Holly and Bernice Ward and two brothers, Paul Hahn and Jerry Hahn. Family will be receiving friends from 3-5 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2014 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., South Avenue. Friends are also invited to attend a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 24, 2014 in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant. Committal services and burial will follow in McKean Memorial Park. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
