Venus L. Nichols

Venus L. "Great-Great" Nichols, 96, of 33 West Warren Road, Custer City, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 24, 2014, at her residence. Born January 18, 1918, in Mt Alton, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mittie (Eady) Towner. On October 26 1940 in Bradford, she married Charles R. "Red" Nichols, who died on January 1, 1995. Mrs. Nichols attended school in Mt Alton and Smethport. She loved music, and enjoyed playing the harmonica, violin, guitar and organ. She spent many hours in her flower gardens and also crocheting and painting. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and especially her grandkids. She had been employed for many years at Tool and Toy which later became Century Home Center. Surviving is one son, Thomas (Vickie) Nichols, of Florida, two daughters Margaret (Dale Sumner) Jedrosko of Rome, NY and Virginia Jedrosko, of Bradford, 5 grandchildren, Tammy Jedrosko, John Jedrosko, Jr., Matthew Jedrosko, Debra Nichols and Jennifer Jedrosko, 5 great grandchildren, Emilie, Elizabeth, Miranda, and twins Stephon and Raphael, 5 great great grandchildren Jacob, Zaydin, Avianna, McKenna and Taylynne, 3 nieces and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She was the last living sibling of her family, with 13 other brothers and sisters who preceded her in death. Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 10:00am to Noon in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave., where funeral services will be held at Noon with Rev. Wilber Barber retired pastor, officiating. Committal services and burial will be in McKean Memorial Park. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
