Dayle Newton

Dayle Newton, 83, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather of 37 Lincoln Drive, Lewis Run, passed away, Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at his residence.

Born  April 16, 1931, in Bradford he was the son of the late Laurel (Newton) Tubbs-Haught.

On September 16, 1950, in Allegany, NY,  he married Jean (Haven) Newton who survives.

Mr. Newton was a 1949 graduate of Bradford High School. In October of 1950 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and was stationed in Turkey, Hawaii and Alaska. He was honorably discharged September 30, 1970 as a clerical technician. He returned to Bradford and worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #108. He had also been active with Boy Scouts of America and was a Scout Master for several years.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing and archery. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his best pal, Bandit.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years are 4 children, Karen Pennington, Kevin (Pam) Newton, all of Bradford, Steven (Pattie) Newton, of Rixford, and Cheryl (Trevor) Wingard, of Somerset, 8 grandchildren, Jeannie Hannon, Bryan Taylor, Melissa Wright, Brittany Taylor, Caleb Pennington, Matthew Ekas, Emily Wingard and Isabel Wingard, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Mary Denise Newton and a sister Ann Moore.

At the request of the family there will be no public visitation. Private services will be held at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., South Ave. with Rev. Ernest Reed, retired pastor, officiating.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Watchman Research Fund , PO Box 931517, Cleveland, OH 44193.
