Glenn "Bill" Eschrich

Glenn C. "Bill" Eschrich 90, of 956 South Ave. Custer City, passed away, Wednesday, March 10, 2015, at the Bradford Manor.

Born March 19, 1924 in Bradford, he was the only son of the late LeRoy S. and Edna (Belser) Eschrich. He was a 1943 graduate of Bradford High School.

On April 14, 1967, he married Letha M. (Bennett-Patch) Eschrich who survives.

In April of 1943 he enlisted in the United States Navy, and after 22 years of service retired as a BMC-Bowsmate Chief in March of 1965 at San Francisco, CA Naval Base. He returned to the area and worked at Speers for five years and then at Lloyd Smiths as a machinist for seven years.

Everyone knew him as Bill and his grandchildren all fondly called him Uncle Bill. He loved the outdoors and in his younger days you could always find him on great hikes. He also enjoyed hunting or just hanging out with the guys, if you ever needed a hand, Bill was the first one to help. He had an amazing sense of humor, gentle soul and was a great jokester, and he was also famous for his amazing flower gardens.

He had attended Lafayette Evangelical Christian Church. He was a member of the Lafayette Men’s Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Letha of 47 years are two step daughters, Carol Linn (the late Robert E. Linn) of Williamsport, Donna (Laree) Lopez, of Orange, CA, seven grandchildren, Deborah (Albert) Hills, Michael (Dianna) Linn, Thomas (Dawn) Linn, Robert W. (Janel) Linn all of Pennsylvania, Susan (Jon) Thompson of Bermuda, Jennifer Weerheim and Christopher Lopez both of California, 15 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, a sister Dorothy Benninger and several nieces and nephews including, Vicky Campbell, Trudy Gulnac, Vonnie Schimp, Stacy Sprester and Janet Barger. He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, Emma (Ausell) Eschrich and two sisters, Helen Dixon and Virginia Sprester.

Friends may call on Friday, March 13, 2015, 1:00pm to 3:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 East Main St., where funeral services will be held at 3:00pm with Rev. Robert Baldwin pastor of the Lafayette Evangelical Church officiating. Committal services and burial will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 11:00am in the Wildwood Cemetery in Williamsport.
