Gary W. Silsby

Gary W. Silsby, 68, of 62 Moody Hollow, Rixford, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born January 27, 1947, in Wellsville, he was a son of the late Edgar and Margaret (Lineman) Silsby.

On October 24, 1965 at the Rew United Methodist Church, he married Patricia Ann (Yeaples) Silsby who survives him.

Gary attended Limestone School. He started working in the oil fields and drilling oil wells at the age of 13. He worked for his father and father in law and other local families in the oil business. He had drilled wells in Pennsylvania, Indiana, New York and Ohio. He had also owned and operated a water well drilling business.

He was active with the Penn Brad Oil Museum and donated many historical items.

He loved music, hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved his family and friends and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife Patricia of 49 years, five daughters, Julie Silsby, of Ashland, OH, Sally (Ray) Miller, of W. Salem, OH, Cris (MIke) Frederick, of Rixford, Patricia Silsby, of Bradford and Annette (Jeff) Walker, of Ashland, OH, one son, George Silsby, of Lewis Run, four sisters, Carol (Jim) Farrell, of Warren, Rita Fox, Patsy (James) Wooster, and Judy (Donald) Jacoby, all of Limestone, 15 grandchildren, LeAnn, Megan, Ashley, Frankie, Karen, Jennifer, Kayla, Tiffany, Edgar, George Jr. Gary, Terry, Christopher, Devin and Caleb,13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Dick Silsby and Bruce Silsby.

Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at 11:00am in the Moody Hollow Cemetery, Rixford, with Rev Rick Price, pastor of the Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Penn Brad Oil Museum.
