Jean H. Johnson

Jean H. Johnson, 83, formerly of 610 W. Washington Street, Bradford, PA, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 at Forest View, in Erie, PA. 

She was born December 7, 1931, to the late John C. and Ruby (Snyder) Himes in Napoli, NY. She was a 1949 graduate of Bradford Area High School.  Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for the Superintendent of the Bradford Area School District.

On July 22, 1950, she married Alvin W. Johnson in the East End United Presbyterian Church of Bradford, PA.  She was an active member of this church for many years, serving as a member of the session and as an elder.  Her husband, Alvin, preceded her in death on December 10, 2001.

She is survived by two sons, Carl A. (Teresa) Johnson, MD, of Baltimore, MD, and Dale W. (Susan) Johnson, of Edinboro, PA, and two daughters, Sue A. (Dr. David F.) Martin, of Winston-Salem, NC, and Martha J. (Dr. Gregory.T.) Gdowski, PhD, of Rochester, NY; seven grandchildren – Tara Johnson, MD, Shelley (Gregg) Webb, Blair Johnson, PhD, Lukas (Stefanie) Johnson, Dean (Tracy) Johnson, Elizabeth Martin, and Sarah Martin; five great grandchildren – Lydia, Owen, Audra, Kora, and Kade;  one sister, Joyce (Francis) Carloni, of Bradford;  and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, James C. Himes, of Etowah, NC, and William R. Himes, of Tidioute, PA.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday, December 3, 2015, from 4-7pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 372 East Main St., where funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, December 4, 2015. Committal services and burial will follow in McKean Memorial Park.

The family requests that memorials, if desired, be made to the Springhill Employee Fund, 2323 Edinboro Road, Erie, PA 16509.
