William Charles McKinney Sr., 66, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, of 2 South Ave., Bradford, formerly of East Main Street passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born December 1, 1949, in Bradford he was a son of the late Charles and Doris M. (Button) McKinney.
On August 18, 1973 in Bradford, he married Leona (Riley) McKinney who survives.
He attended Bradford Schools. On September 29, 1969, he was inducted into the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on August 31, 1971
Mr. McKinney worked at Halliburton for 15 years, at Burt Yale's Bay Chevy, Edmund's Chevrolet, and retired from the maintenance department at the YMCA.
Bill had raced at the Bradford Speedway and later, worked on his son's race car. He enjoyed restoring old cars, his favorite being a 1940 Plymouth Coupe. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his animals.
He was baptized in 1962 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a member of the Open Arms Community Church.
In addition to his wife, Leona of 42 years he is survived by a daughter, Laura (Norman) Tyger, of Bradford, two sons, William (Wendy) McKinney, Jr, of Westline and David McKinney, of Bradford, two sisters, Dorothy Leffler, Bradford, and Bonnie McCoy, of OR, two brothers, Thomas McKinney, KY, and James (Marsha) McKinney of Bradford, 9 grandchildren, Todd, Michael, Zachary, Brianna, Faith, KiLynn, Ember, Nichole, and Mandy and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Charles McKinney, and one sister Rosemary Lainhart.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave, at 5:00pm funeral services will be held with Pastor Justin Willoughby, of the Open Arms Community Church, officiating. Committal services Military Honors, burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
