Clara V. Camas

Clara V. Camas, 95, of 425 West Washington St. Bradford, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016, while in the company of her family, at her residence.

Born November 11, 1920, in Ulysses, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia (Larese) DeFilippo.

On June 17, 1950 in St. Bernard Church, she married Nick Camas, who died on February 21, 1980.

She was a member of St. Bernard Church, the Literary Club, Current Events, LaStella Lodge Auxillary. She enjoyed reading and walking, and loved to play cards, especially Bridge.

Clara owned and operated along with her husband Nick, the Downbeat Restaurant in Bradford. Over the 30 year’s they owned the restaurant all members of the Camas family participated in the operations of the business. She retired in 1982. 

Surviving are two sons, Dr. John M. Camas, of Bradford, and Nick Camas of Long Beach, Ca, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Mario DeFilippo, and John DeFilippo, who was killed in the line of duty in Normandy.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am on Wednesday August 9, 2017, in St. Bernard Church with rev. Stanley Swacha Assistant Pastor of St. Bernard Church officiating. Burial was in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
