Gloria D. Sweeney

Gloria D. Sweeney, 90, of 60 East Hall Road, Derrick City, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.

Born September 1, 1926, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Edward S. and Rachel (Simpier) Chandler.

Gloria was a 1945 graduate of Bradford High School.

On June 5, 1947, in her family home, she married Kenneth W. Coffman, Sr. who passed away, October 10, 1972. On March 27, 1975 in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, she married Burl F. Sweeney, who passed away May 7, 2001.

Mrs. Sweeney had been employed at Corning Glass Works, retiring in 1993, after 35 years of service.

She was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church.

Gloria and her husband Burl had Penn State football season tickets for over 35 years, and enjoyed tailgating at all the home games with family and friends.

After her retirement every month she and her "Retiree Friends" would meet for lunch. She also enjoyed the BCPAC Shows and eating out, especially at the Derrick City Diner.

Mrs. Sweeney played piano with the Franny Bennett Band in Bradford.

She is survived by two daughters, Pam Spees, of Eldred, Susie Coffman, of Erie and one son, Kenneth W. Coffman, Jr, of Bradford, one step daughter, Carole Bickford, of Baltimore, five grandchildren, Jody Spees, Gina Mosko, Nathan Coffman, Nick Coffman and Abby Coffman, two great grandsons, Steven and Guy Spees, and two great great grandchildren, Bryanna and Aleister Spees. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one daughter at birth, Dawn Rae, one sister Bonna Hostutler, and one brother, Edward Chandler.

Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday October 11, 2016, from 3 to 5 & 7 to 9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Ins, 33 South Ave., where funeral and committall services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday with the Rev. Raymond Gramata, Pastor of St. Bernard Church officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
