Aurelia Lola Burkhart

Aurelia B. "Lola" Burkhart, 91, of Bradford, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016, peacefully, at The Pavilion at BRMC.

Born April 26, 1925, in Canton, OH, she was a daughter of the late Emilio and Maria (Diaz) Bueno.

.She was a 1943 graduate of Donora High School.

On February 14, 1946, in St. Charles Catholic Church in Donora, she married Vincent P. "Vince" Burkhart who died October 1, 2004.

Lola formerly worked as an Assistant Chemist at United States Steel in Donora, as an Inspector at DuCo Ceramics in Saxonburg, and prior to her retirement in 1986, was the Office Manager for Dr. John Dudkowski in Sarver.

Lola was a member of St. Bernard Church, and was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of Catholic Women’s Club, the 50 Plus Group, and the Bradford Senior Center where she served on the the Board of Directors as secretary. She volunteered at BRMC and the Auxiliary. A former member of the American Legion and VFW in Saxonburg. Lola was a member and Past Grand Regent of Catholic Daughters of America in West Newton.

She was a die-hard Steelers and Pirates fan, and enjoyed watching Bradford High Basketball.  She was an avid card player, especially poker, euchre and bridge. Her greatest joy came from cooking and spending time with her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Catherine (Gaspar) Gomez, of Converse, TX, and Dr. Nancy (Dave) Fuhrman of Bradford, one son, Fred J. Burkhart, of Honolulu, HI, one sister, Luisa Clontz, of Concord CA, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, Vincent Burkhart, two brothers, Aquilano "Kelly" and James Bueno.

Friends are invited to call Tuesday, November 1, 2016, from 3-5pm & 7-9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Avenue, where a prayer service will be held on Wednesday, at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bernard Church, with Rev. Raymond Gramata, Pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to, Futures Inc., or Ashley Booth Care for Children.
