Socrates Sam Tsepelis

Socrates "Sam" Tsepelis Jr., 88, of 822 South Ave. Bradford, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born September 30, 1928, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Socrates and Mary (Hanson) Tsepelis Sr. He attended Bradford schools.

On October 2, 1950 he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in Germany and was honorably discharged October 3, 1952

On December 27, 1950 in Degolia he married Patricia A. (Mesler) Tsepelis who survives.

Sam worked at Corning Glass for over 30 years and retired in 1984.

Sam was a member of the American Legion Bucktail Post 139 of Smethport, and enjoyed doing mechanical work, four wheeling, hunting and gardening.

Surviving in addition to his wife Patty of 66 years, are five daughters, Colleen (Ron) Nolder of Portville, Deborah (Gerald) Keesler of Aiken, Dawn (Larry) Stillman, of Bradford, Jill (Charles) Hale of OH and Lori St Clair of OH, one son, Socrates "Sam" (Nicole) Tsepelis III, of Bradford, one sister Mary Jane Gigliotti of Bradford, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Sophia Farynick, and two brothers James Tsepelis and George Tsepelis.

Family will be receiving friends Monday January 9, 2017 from Noon to 1:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 372 East Main St. at 1:00pm funeral and committal services will be held with Rev. LeRoy Beckes, retired Presbyterian minister officiating. Military Honors will be accorded in McKean Memorial Park by members of the American Legion Bucktail Post 139 of Smethport.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Western NY, 110 Broadway, Buffalo NY, 14203, or a charity of the donor's choice.
