Alene D. "Lee" Sage, 91, formerly of Riley Road Apts. and Red Rock, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at her residence at Chapel Ridge.
Born on November 14, 1925 in New Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Frank Zinn and Carrie (Sloat) Hutton.
Alene was a 1943 graduate of New Cumberland High School and a 1947 graduate of the Pennsylvania College for Women, now known as Chatham College.
On May 10, 1947, she married Enos Bovaird Sage, who died on December 4, 2002. They lived on the South Nine Mile Road in Allegany until 1966 when they moved to the Sage family farm in Red Rock.
She was an active member of both the Allegany and Bradford Presbyterian Churches, serving as Deacon and President of the Women's Association, and was a 35 year member of the choir. In the 1970's, Alene was a board member of the YWCA and was in charge of the Women's Wednesday Morning Group. Besides singing, she enjoyed playing bridge, baking, reading, and for many years, vacationing with family on Lake Nipissing in Ontario, Canada.
During the 1980's she worked for 10 years at Richards' Ladies Clothing Store in Bradford.
Alene is survived by four children, two daughters Alisa C. "Chris"(Ken Odiorne) Sage of Columbus, OH, and Allyson (Dr. Patrick Romano) Sage of Sacramento, CA, two sons, Enos Hutton (Eileen) Sage of Severn, MD and William N. Sage of Tyrone, a brother Paul Hutton of Spokane, WA, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a beloved first cousin, Sandra Lyter of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and infant son, Dennis, an infant daughter, Diane, one sister Alvadee Adams and two brothers Frank Z. Hutton and William B. Hutton.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday May 19, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., and again on Saturday from 10:00am to 11:00am in the First Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held beginning at 11:00 am with Rev. Rob Klouw, Co-Pastor, officiating. Committal services and burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
