James E. Williams

James E. Williams, 90, of Cyclone, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Bradford Regional Medical Center. 

Born March 28, 1927 in Clearfield, he was a son of the late Frank and Ethel  Gertrude (Anderson)  Williams.

On July 28, 1956 in Salmanca, NY, he married  Frances J. (Frank) Williams, who survives. 

On November 15, 1945 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged May 9, 1947 at the rank of Private. 

After his military service, he worked as a laborer in various capacities until 1960, when he went to work in the local oil fields until his retirement.  After retirement, he worked as a caretaker at Rose Hill Cemetery. 

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Diane (Larry Perry) of Rochester, NY, Randy (Dawn) Williams of Alton, NY, Laura (Richard Brewster) Williams of Wyalusing, Frank (Tammy) Williams of Rixford, Tom (Renee) Williams of Bradford and Kami (Stan Lewis) Leakey of Rochester, NY; three sisters, Audrey Martin of Smethport, Dorothy Manning of Portsmouth, VA and Lila McLaughlin of Cyclone; four brothers, Norman Williams of Cyclone, John Williams of Johnstown, Donald Williams of Smethport and Glenn Williams of Smethport; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Luella Gray and Violet Jones and three brothers, Walter, 'Hap' and Robert Williams. 

A celebration of James' life will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Norwich Township Volunteer Fire Department in Crosby.  Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
