Helen A. Wolfe, 92, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, of 122 Barbour St., Bradford, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born June 18, 1925 in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Patrick J. and Marion G. (Cook) Connelly.
She was a 1943 graduate of Bradford High School and later from Bryant & Stratton Business College.
On August 3, 1945 in St. Bernard Church, she married Wilbert J. "Rupe" Wolfe who died January 17, 2012.
Helen was employed as a teacher’s aide at Room to Grow, where she was known as “grandma”, and later at the Learning Center.
Helen was active for many years on the board of the National Society for Autistic Children and sat on the Governor’s Council for the Developmentally Disabled for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She worked tirelessly to promote education and awareness, not only to the public, but for families of Autistic children - a labor of love which always remained near and dear to her heart. She was a member of St. Bernard Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathy Paterniti, of Pittsburgh, Christine Morgan, and Laurie E. Wolfe both, of Bradford, three sons Patrick (Nora) Wolfe, of Naples, FL, Michael B. (Janice) Wolfe and Scott Wolfe, all of Bradford. She was known affectionately as “Munner” to her ten grandchildren, Stephanie Weinberg, Kristin Paterniti-Morris, Michael Paterniti, Rick Paterniti, Jason Morgan, Adrienne Wolfe, Aaron Wolfe, Jenna Ring, Allie Rorer, Corinne Wolfe and her 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Raymond Connelly and two sisters, Patricia Schessler and Joann Stidd.
Family will be receiving friends on Monday September 11, 2017, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., at 11:30 am. a prayer service will be held, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant. Committal services and burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
