Richard E. McLaughlin

Richard E. McLaughlin, 70, of 5735 Church St., Limestone, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 20, 1947 in Bradford, he was the son of the late Harold and Josephine (Grant) McLaughlin. 

On August 27, 1966 in the Derrick City United Methodist Church, he married Deborah (Ebeling) McLaughlin, who survives. 

He was a 1966 graduate of Bradford High School. On June 20, 1966 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Medical Badge, and a Purple Heart.  He was honorably discharged June 19, 1969. 

After his military service, he returned to the area and worked construction for Don Cummins. He then went to work for Western Electric in Chicago, wiring new construction and setting up computers.  He returned to Limestone and worked at Kendall Refining, Witco-Kendall and retired from ARG in 2006, after 35 years.

He was a member of the Quarter Century Club and the American Legion in Limestone. 

In addition to his wife Deborah of 51 years, he is survived by a daughter, Staci McLaughlin-Peats of Bradford; three grandchildren, Phillip, Garrett and Kylie McLaughlin; three great grandchildren, Carson, Atticus, and  Zayd, one sister, Carol Milne of Bradford, one niece and several nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard McLaughlin. 

Private services will be held for family with the Rev. W. LeRoy Beckes, retired Presbyterian minister officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made to the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, or the Limestone American Legion, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
