Michael R. Newhouse

Michael R. (Mike) Newhouse, 57, of 21 Browntown Road, Bradford, passed away, Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at his residence.

Born August 20, 1961, in Bradford, he was the son of Mary (Swartzfager) Newhouse O’Connell, wife of Matthew T. (Tom) O'Connell, of Lewis Run and the late Richard E. Newhouse.

On September 7, 2018, he married his partner of 18 years, Barbara (Jacoby) Newhouse, who survives. 

Mike was a 1980 graduate of Bradford High School. He had been employed at Seamans Tire, Matthew's Quaker State, Newhouse Construction and for the last 19 years at W.R. Case and Sons.

He took great pride in keeping his yard, garage, and home in pristine condition and he loved his dogs. Mike will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

In addition to his mother, stepfather and wife, surviving are two daughters, Jessica L. Newhouse and stepdaughter Karrie A. Herman; one stepson Michael Herman; five brothers, Tim Newhouse, Jim (Carolyn) Newhouse, Richard (Georgia) Newhouse, David (Angela) Newhouse, and Joseph O’Connell; one sister Ruth Cartwright; one stepsister, Beth O'Connell, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, and one stepsister, Sue (O’Connell) Terry.

Family will be receiving friends on Sunday, December 30, 2018, from 3 to 5 & 7 to 9 p.m. in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave. where a prayer service will be held on Monday at 10:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Francis Church, with Rev. Stanley Swacha, Pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.

Memorials if desired may be made to the McKean County SPCA, American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
