Dorothy J. "Dottie" Douglass

Dorothy J. “Dottie” Douglass, 64, of Gifford, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at her residence.

Born on November 21, 1956, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Cooley) Hillwig Jr.

On August 7, 1976, at St. Joseph Church in Brady's Bend, she married Thomas M. Douglass who survives.

She was a 1975 graduate of Karns City High School.

Dottie owned and operated Sal's Plaza Restaurant for 15 years, and later owned The Kitchen Restaurant for another 15 years. Prior to her death she was the dining hall supervisor for Metz at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

She was a member of the Mt. Jewett American Legion Auxiliary and Bradford Woman's Bowling League. She enjoyed time with her family most of all her grandkids.  She loved traveling from baseball field to baseball field to see her grandkids play, she never missed a game.

Surviving in addition to her husband of nearly 45 years is one son, Raymond (Jenn) Douglass, of Bradford, a daughter, Donna (Dan) Meister, of Bradford, three sisters, Cathy (Tom) Shepard, of Rochester, Mary (Casey) Tynan, of Butler, Lorie (Joe) Schwickrath, of Sarver, four brothers, Herk (Shelia) Hillwig, of East Brady, John Hillwig, of Butler, Joe (Karen) Hillwig, of East Brady, Steve (Lois) Hillwig, of Manahawkin, NJ, five grandchildren Logan and Austyn Douglass and Jacob, Danny and Cameron Meister. Along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law Homer and Carmella Douglass and one son-in-law Kevin Donovan.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 8, 2021, from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Mt. Jewett Veterans Memorial Club, aka Mt Jewett American Legion Post 0574.
