Doug was not only a colleague at the bar, but a friend. I admired his dedication to the always difficult and frequently thankless job of public defender. He had a genuine feel and sympathy for those who needed it most a rare and much appreciated quality. Rest in peace good friend. John Cleland

I first met Doug when I served as a law clerk for Judge Cleland. He was one of the first attorneys I met in McKean County. I had many good conversations with him over the following years - not just about practicing but about Bradford, his experiences growing up in the area and his family. He had a wonderful soul and a found place in the heart of our judges, court staff and the McKean County Bar. We appreciate his service as a public defender and his friendship. Rest in peace Doug.
