Florence M. Luzier

Florence M. "Smiles" Luzier, 99, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Bradford, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Omega Assisted Living Facility, in Cape Coral Fl.

Born January 30, 1922, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Braley and Katherine (Bolt) Rothrock.

She graduated salutatorian from Limestone High School in 1939, where she also was editor of their initial yearbook entitled Past Choices.

On October 11, 1939, in the Limestone Methodist Church, she married Howard L. Luzier, who preceded her in death on December 12, 2018.

She was formerly employed at Bell Telephone of NY and Kendall Refining, and she retired as Executive Secretary at Edwards and Moncreiff.

Smiles was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women having served as treasurer, the alumni association of Limestone High School, and St. Francis of Assisi 50+ Group. She was a co-leader of the Esther Circle and served several offices in the Current Events Club where she co-authored the books, A Little History of the Club Vol. I in 1996 on the 96th Anniversary of the Club and Vol. II - 100 Years Centennial.

When Robert and Flory Ballard brought Western Style Square Dancing to Bradford in 1962, the Hicks & Chicks Square Dance Club was started. Smiles and Howard were one of the four original couples to start the club. It was later known as the Jacks & Jills Square & Round Dance Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Claudia (Steve) Ervin, of Port Charlotte, FL, and Carolyn Frutiger Hubert (Robert), of Cape Coral, FL, three granddaughters, Marni Long (Russell) Hawkins, of Vandalia, OH, Lisa Frutiger (Thomas) Bowser, of Barberton, OH, and Wendy Frutiger (Mark) Frederick, of Bradford, one great grandson, Gregory Frederick, of Bradford, three great granddaughters, Kylie Bowser and Brandi Bowser, both of Barberton, OH, and Mackenzie Hawkins, of Vandalia OH, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, two sisters, and one son-n-law, Richard "Dick" Frutiger.

Friends will be received on Friday January 21, 2022, from 10:00 am to Noon at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Home Inc. 33 South Avenue where funeral services will be held at Noon, with the Pastor Russ Hawkins, from the Church of God in Cleveland OH, officiating. Burial will be at Willow Dale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Anna Sweet Memorial Fund, at Limestone Methodist Church.
