We were sorry to hear about Ron''s passing. Ron and I became great friends during the School St. basketball years. He really cared about the teams and players. He was especially proud of Alan''s team that went 15-0. He was a true professional and will be surely missed. Mike and Martha

Molly and family, we are deeply sorry for your loss. Mark never forgot the first time he sat on a 4-wheeler...
when Ron let him drive his out of your garage when the flood of ''99 hit. We were only neighbors briefly, but Ron left an impact on everyone he met.

It is not often that a small town like Bradford produces an icon. On Christmas day this year, we lost one when long time sports editor at the Bradford Era, Ron Kloss, passed away at the age of 73.
When I began shooting photos for the paper in 1999, Ron and Joe Vinelli were firmly entrenched as the sports department. I remember the first football game I shot at Bradford high, it was pouring rain and I was trying to figure out how to get a good photo and keep my camera dry. I looked down the sideline and saw Ron hobbling around on his cane while holding an umbrella and jotting down the notes he would later turn in to a story. That moment was an inspiration to me. I learned then what it took to do this job the way it should be done and I always try to uphold the standards Ron set.
I remember the times I would ride to Big 30 practices with Ron to Port Allegany. We had some lively conversations as he drove his preferred back country route through the middle of nowhere that he said was a shortcut. I never was too sure whether or not it was a shortcut but they were fun trips nonetheless.
The Era has not been the same since he retired. Others have come in and done the job but something is missing. There was an ineffable quality to Ron’s presence in that tiny room pounding out stories on his keyboard that will never come again. Somewhere along the line he became synonymous with Bradford sports. When you thought of Bradford high school sports, Ron Kloss was the first name that came to mind.
He was an icon… and he will be missed.

Molly,
A "water " will be truly missed. When my boys were little he enjoyed taking them to his fishing spot and teach them what he enjoyed. When I think of Ron it was always go big, truck, tractor, ATV and marrying into a big loving family and enjoying the outside. We love you Ron. We are here for you sis.
