Roberta R. "Bonnie" Shonts, 72, of Rt 646, Cyclone, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Buffalo General Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born November 7, 1946 in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Anna Bell (Caulkins) Doane. Bonnie was a 1964 graduate of Port Allegany High School.
On September 30, 1967 in Roulette, she married Jack W. Shonts who survives.
Bonnie worked at Buffalo Children's Hospital after high school but became a wife, mother, and book keeper for their construction business.
Bonnie enjoyed painting, gardening, ceramics, writing and reading poetry, and bird watching. She loved taking care of animals and had lots of pets including dogs, cats, goats, rabbits, and a deer. She was a very good cook for her family. Bonnie enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and a good campfire. She was a kind and happy spirit and had a knack for bringing joy to others.
Surviving is her husband Jack, of 52 years, one son, Donald (Kris) Shonts, of Cyclone, one daughter, Katie (Larry) Saar, of Cyclone, four grandchildren, Ryane and Luke Saar, Parker Shonts and Keyanna Ludwig, one sister, Linda (Gordon) Ingram, of Bradford, one sister in-law, Marion Doane, of Roulette, one brother in-law, Sal Paneda, of Eldred, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Yvonne Paneda and one brother, Lynn "Stubby" Doane.
Friends may call from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 11, 2019, in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 372 East Main Street, where funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm with Elder Ken Welch, officiating.
