Richard L. Armagost

Richard L. Armagost, 90, peacefully passed away Saturday May 13, 2023, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home, with his daughters by his side.

Born November 25, 1932, in Brookville, he was a son of the late James Edward and Ida Mae (Reed) Armagost.

The majority of his life was spent installing flooring for more than 40 years. He worked at Duval Flooring, in Warren, and Monego’s Floor and Wall Covering in Bradford. As a young man he worked in the oil fields and did masonry work. After retirement he was employed by Green Thumb at the NYS Environmental.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed hunting with his brothers, taking the beagles out occasionally. He enjoyed having those late-night horseshoe tournaments, and when they didn’t know enough to call it a day, rigging up spotlights so they could continue the game.

Dick was a member of the Church of Christ, a former member of the Marche Club, Limestone Volunteer Firemen’s Club and the Bradford American Legion Post 108.

He is survived by three daughters Julie (the late John) Szur of Jersey Shore, Sharon (Tim Bridge) Black of Lewis Run, and Doreen (Louie) Dedionisio of Harbor Creek, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Phearsdorf, and four brothers Floyd, James, Earl and Robert Armagost.

A private memorial service will be held at the Church of Christ with Rev. Rick Price, Pastor officiating.

Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Anyone fighting this debilitating disease is powerless and has no voice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
