John F. Alexander

John F. Alexander, 89, of 538 Bolivar Drive, Bradford, died peacefully, Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at his residence.

Born June 26, 1934, in Bradford, he was a son of the late A. O. and Eleanor (Meachem) Alexander.

On October 2, 1965, in Bradford, he married Norma Jean (Dougherty) Alexander who preceded him in death on May 28, 1994.

John was a 1952 graduate of Bradford High School. While in high school he worked at McGregor Working Barrell.

On April 2, 1957, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on March 9, 1959.

After the service John was employed at Star Garage, and for many years as the groundskeeper for Hugh Grant and later for Mrs. Grant. He retired from Bisett Just Ask Rental.

He was a member of the Lions Club, and he volunteered at the friendship table.

Surviving are three sons, Steven (Vicki) Alexander, Todd (Crystal) Alexander, all of Bradford, and Jon (Linda) Alexander, Custer City, one step-daughter, Mary Frances (Jim) DeBoy, of Mesa, AZ, one sister, Karen Calderwood, of Bradford, 13 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, Mahlon "Fat" Alexander, Samuel Alexander, James Alexander, and Gerald "Meach" Alexander, three sisters, Molly McAndrew, Elinor Wasden, and Sara "Sally" Burkett.

Services are private at the convenience of family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the charity of the donor's
choice.
