Vera Jo Kohler

Peacefully, with family by her side, Vera Jo Kohler, passed away Friday September 22, 2023, in her 77th year.

Born June 13, 1946, in Bradford, she was the daughter of Chester L. and Elmira (Adams) Vaughn.

A kind, generous, and dedicated woman; Vera left everlasting memories and impressions on anyone who was lucky enough to know her.  To Vera, her family was her greatest gift and her most valuable possession.  

Vera worked as the Office Manager and Certified Parametric Assistant at Eye Care Associates in Bradford, PA for 38 years.  She served on the Pennsylvania Paraoptometric Association, where she was President in 1993, 1994, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 and held various other board positions throughout the years.   In 2012, she was named Paraoptometric of the Year and most recently she was presented with the Pennsylvania Optometric Association Lifetime Achievement award.

She will forever be in the hearts of her sons, Mark Frederick, John Sandy, and David (Kayla) Frederick, all of Limestone, NY, a daughter, Sherri Lapcevich (Jeff) of Grimsby, Canada, stepchildren John Kohler (Mim) of Mountain City, TN, and Teri Baskett (Wayne) of Murfreesboro, TN.  Lovingly remembered by her twelve grandchildren, Adam Weitzel, Brent Frederick, Cayden Lapcevich, Treyten Lapcevich, Ryden Lapcevich, Jayen Lapcevich, Sarea Foley, Michael Frederick, Serena Frederick, Kris Burgess, Kaylee Burgess, Britney Kohler and eleven great-grandchildren.  She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, husband Ray Kohler, daughter Robin Weitzel and sisters Betty Thrush, Connie Spittler, and Mary Chase.  

Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Home Inc., 372 E. Main St. in Bradford, PA, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, with Rev Eric Kessel, Pastor, of Farmersville Baptist Church, officiating. 

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
