Mary E. Graham, 97, formerly of 315 Seaward Ave, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home, where she had been a resident for six years.
Born in Bradford on June 7, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna (Cassels) Gontero. She graduated from Bradford Area High School with the Class of 1944. On October 21, 1950, in Bradford, Mary married Robert N. Graham who preceded her in death on June 4, 2017.
She worked many years for the National Supply Company in Bradford. She also worked in the family business, Graham’s Greenhouse, which was started 132 years ago and is now owned and operated by the fifth generation, William Graham and his sons, Ben and Fred.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Current Events Club, the Tim Horton Breakfast Group, and the Red Hat Farmerettes. She was a volunteer for the Bradford Ecumenical Home and Chapel Ridge Auxiliary. As a volunteer at the Bradford Hospital for more than 20 years she took great pleasure in gifting newborn babies with booties and hats which she knit for them.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Sheila Graham (Steve Epstein) of Arlington, VA; Lisa (Chuck) Caples of Rochester, NY; two grandchildren, Tara (Kyle) Weis of Buffalo, NY; and Riley (Erin) Caples of Arvada, CO; and one great grandson, Alex Caples, of Arvada, CO. She is also survived by one nephew, seven nieces and several grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased in death by her sister, Toni McCord, of Bradford.
Family will receive friends on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave in Bradford, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM. A private burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
