Thomas G. Black

Thomas G. Black, 88, of 7986 Rt. 59, Mt. Alton, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023.

Born on February 16, 1935, in Kane, he was a son of the late Vernie S. and Minnie A. (McCool) Black. Tom attended MJ Ryan School.

On September 10, 1955, in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church with Fr. Kennedy officiating, he married Nancy L. (Schlopy) Black who survives.

Tom worked for Lafayette Township for 44 years and was a Working Supervisor for the last 24 years. During that time Tom was also self-employed, owning Tom Black's Backhoe Service. 

He was a member of St. Bernard Church, and served on the Bradford Area Wage Tax Board.

Tom was an avid hunter, and loved spending time with his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife Nancy, of 68 years, is one daughter, Cindy Hervatin, of Marshburg, two sons, William (Tammy) Black, of Lafayette, and Richard "Stubby" (Sue) Black, of Hanover, one sister, Gail (the late Richard) Vecellio, of Mt. Alton, five grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Black, Matthew (Zuzana) Black, Lauren (Josh) Scott, Erin (Joe) Strotman, Corey Black, and Collin (Autumn) Black, five great grandchildren, Eliana Scott, Addison Scott, Rylie Strotman, Everlee Black, and Camryn Black, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Bernard Black, Charles "Chick" Black, and Richard "Rick" Black.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 East Main Street. Friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, at 10:00 am, in the St. Francis Church, with Rev. John Jacquel, Pastor, as celebrant, officiating.  Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the St. Bernard Church, 95 East Corydon Street, Bradford Pa, 16701, or a charity of the donor's choice.
