Patricia S. Crooks

Patricia S. Crooks, 90, of Cornen Street, Bradford, passed away, Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 2, 1935, in Warsaw, NY she was a daughter of the late William M. and Marion (Axtell) Stephenson.

She was a 1953 graduate of Shinglehouse High School.

On October 7, 1965 in Custer City, she married William H. Crooks, who passed away, October 29, 1992. She later became a companion with James "Banjo" Johnston who died February 4, 2004.

Pat worked in the Painting Department at Zippo Manufacturing Company for 32 years until her retirement.

She was a life member and former chaplain of the VFW Post 212 Francis Sherman Auxiliary, and a member of the Bradford American Legion Post 108. She was a past member of the Bradford Eagles Club, Bradford Moose Lodge, and the Moose Lodge in Pompano Beach, FL.  Pat bowled in the Monday Night Football Widows League for many years. She was an avid sports fanatic of NASCAR, baseball and the Buffalo Bills.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Kevin Costello) Rimer, and Sheri (Greg Ostrander) Deming, one son, Duane Deming, all of Bradford, two step daughters, Lloydene (Mike) Bogdue, and Candace Fisher, three sisters, Jacqueline (Dick) Bachar, Sylvia (Pedro) Rodriguez, and Sue (Sam) Morrie, six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. 

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband, companion, one daughter Debra Deming, two grandsons, three sisters, and one brother.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Avenue and again on Wednesday, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm where funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with Rev. Walter Ostrander, retired Baptist Minister, officiating. Committal services and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Shinglehouse.

The Francis Sherman Auxiliary of the VFW Post 212 will conduct a memorial service at 6:00 pm on Tuesday. 

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, PO Box 631, Buffalo NY, 14240, the VFW Auxiliary or to a charity of the donor's choice.
