Karen Dougherty

M. Karen Dougherty, 76, of 4486 Rehler Road, Allegany, NY passed away with her husband by her side, Saturday, November 22, 2025, at The Pines of Olean NY.

Born May 19, 1949, in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Eugene R. and Jennie L. (Larson) Kalb.

Karen was a 1967 graduate of Bradford High School. In 1969 she graduated from  Program Systems Institute, with a degree in Data Processing and Computer Programming.

On March 19, 1970, in St. Bernard Church she married James J. Dougherty, who survives.

Karen later graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

She had been employed at Zippo Manufacturing Company and Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. She retired from Sundahl Insurance Company as a receptionist and clerk. 

Karen was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of the Hibernian Club in Olean, Limestone Fireman's Club, and the Limestone American Legion Post 1560. 

Surviving in addition to her husband Jim of 55 years is one son, Todd Dougherty, of Olean NY, one grandson, Daniel P. Dougherty, one brother, Jeffrey L. Kalb, of Geneva OH, two nephews, Jeffrey Kalb and James Kalb, and two cousins, Willeen Smith, and Robert Kalb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Timothy P. Dougherty, who died August 20, 2021, and one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Dougherty.

Private services will be held at Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. in Bradford. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
