James A. Kemick Sr.

James A. Kemick, Sr., 89, of 1065 West Washington Street, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at his residence.

Born March 20, 1925, in Lewis Run he was a son of the late Edward Clarence and Florence Marie (Roberts) Kemick.

On October 23, 1948 he married Jean Marie (Lyons) Kemick, who died November 7, 2000.

Mr. Kemick attended Hobson Place School.

On May 17, 1943 he was inducted into the United States Navy. He served during World War II, received the Pacific Theater Ribbon with four bronze stars and the American Theater Ribbon. He was honorably discharged, March 7, 1946.

He worked as a welder for Wes Fisher's "Wrought Iron Ornamental Works" in East Bradford, Kessell Construction, and G. M. McCrossen Construction with Union Local #3. He had worked for many local families on wrought iron projects and also for St. Bernard Church.

He was an active member of St. Bernard Church and supported St. Bernard School.

Surviving are two daughters, Julie (David) Zuckerman, and Karen Kemick, and one son, James A. Kemick, Jr., all of Bradford, 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a son Robert Kemick who died July 29, 2009.

Family will be receiving friends on Sunday, May 4, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 372 East Main St.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 5, 2014, at 10:00am in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant. Military Honors and committal services will be held in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.
