Carl James Spindler

Carl James Spindler, 51, of Erie, formerly of Limestone, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie.

Born September 12, 1962 in Corning, NY he was a son of the late James F. and Margaret M. "Cherie" (Moshier) Spindler.

Mr. Spindler was a 1981 graduate of Limestone High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 14, 1981. After completing Basic Training at Lackland AFB, TX, he received technical training at Keesler AFB, MS, to become a Wide Band Communication Equipment Specialist. Shortly thereafter he received orders to be assigned at Hahn AFB, in Germany. Outstanding accomplishments by Carl earned him the Air Force Achievement Award which he received on  March 14, 1984. Additionally Airman Spindler was awarded the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged June 30, 1986. Carl pursued civilian employment with ADT as a home security technician at for over 25 years, where he received a 15 year and a 25 year certificate of appreciation.

He was a member of the Polish Falcons Nest #123 of Erie.

Surviving are three sisters, Cheryl M. O'Connell, of Ormsby, PA, Cindy M. Ressel of Chaffee, MO, and Cathy M. Sudo, of Jeanette, PA, three brothers, Christopher J. Spindler, of Moore, OK, Craig J. Spindler, of Hinsdale, NH, and Curt J. Spindler, of Port Allegany, and four nieces, five nephews and his many friends from Bull Shooters in Erie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister Carol M. Bells.

Friends are invited to attend a graveside service and Military Honors on Sunday, August 31, 2014 in St. Patrick Cemetery in Limestone at 1:30pmwith Rev. Patrick Melfi officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
