Rodger B. Conklin

Rodger B. Conklin, 71, of Westfield, NY, formerly of Bradford, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 at his residence.

Born April 29, 1943, in Bradford he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Alice (Baldwin) Conklin.

He married Marcia (Riggs) McCormack who survives.

Mr. Conklin attended Bradford Area Schools. In 1962 he enlisted in the United States Marines and was honorable discharged in 1976. He returned home and worked for Clark Brothers in Olean, Dresser Manufacturing in Bradford and for a delivery service. Then in 1984 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was also honorably discharged in 1991. He again returned to the area after his military career and in 1994 began working for the US Postal Service for 11 years in Bradford, retiring in 2005. In his retirement he moved to Arizona for 7 years and returned to settle in Westfield, NY.

He was a member and past president of the North Western Region of the Fleet Reserves Association #106 in Dewittville, NY, and the Penn York Branch 169 Reserve Association, and a member of the American Legion, in Arizona. He was a lifetime member of the Zippo-Case Collectors Club and a member of the Westfield, NY and Lewis Run, Coin Collectors.

Surviving in addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Melissa (Charles) Coffie, of Berlin, NY and Yvette Pinsonneault, of Adams, MA, one son, Rodger B. Conklin, II, of Summerfield, FL,  two step daughters Lori Morgan, and  Janna Cobb, one step son Benjamin McCormack, three sisters, Connie Smith, and Bonnie (Richard) France, all of Bradford, Judy (Eldor) Brunmeier, of Hazen, ND, nine grandchildren, several step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family will be receiving friends on Thursday, September 11, 2014, from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave. Bradford, where funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 12, 2014, with Rev. Matt Blake, pastor of the Bradford Area Parish officiating. Committal Services and Military Honors will be accorded in Willow Dale Cemetery.
