William G. Davis, 95, formerly of 60 East Avenue, passed away, Thursday, February 26, 2015 at The Pavilion at BRMC.
Born August 14, 1919 in West Pittston, he was a son of the late Edward and Eva (Styner) Davis.
On June 18, 1949 in Smethport, he married Lorraine E. (Walk) Davis who died March 3, 2009.
Mr. Davis was a 1937 graduate of West Pittston High School where he participated in football, wrestling, track and baseball. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army on August, 2, 1938, where he served with the Battery A 12th Battalion Coast Artillery, and was honorably discharged on August 4, 1941. He reenlisted on January 2, 1942 and served with the 82nd Airborne Division. He participated in the invasion of Normandy and several other major battles including the Battle of the Bulge and the Rhineland. Following these battles he was honorably discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant. His service awards included the following; Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four Bronze Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead and the la Croix De Guerre from the French Government.
Mr. Davis attended Williamsport Technical Institute where he studied construction and surveying. Following his graduation, he was immediately employed with Beckwith Machinery. He worked for Beckwith Machinery in the service department, and retired after 34 years of service as service manager.

He enjoyed traveling, photography, and spending time with his family. He spent much of his free time on home projects in the cellar of his home.
Surviving are four sons, James (Carol) Wilson of Warner Robin, GA, Edward (the late Joyce) Davis of Limestone, Thomas (Tina) Davis, and Stephen (Laurie) Davis all of Bradford, fourteen grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial services on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at 2:00pm in the Hill Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Tennies pastor officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
