Laura M. "Cookie" Burkett, 73, of Duke Center, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Sena Kean Manor, in Smethport.
Born April 1, 1941, in Bradford she was the daughter of the late Edward Lee and Ellen Mae (Albert) Coast.
On January 23, 1960 in Olean, at the Shower Memorial EUB Church she married Thomas E. Burkett who survives.
Mrs. Burkett attended Bradford Area Schools. She had worked at Zippo Mfg., Smethport Speciality in Smethport and W.R. Case Cutlery & Sons.
She enjoyed crocheting, camping and dirt track racing, but most of all spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She formerly attended Hilltop Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 55 years are two daughters, Laurie L. (Kendall) Lawhead, of Eldred, Juanita Burkett, of Duke Center, three sons, E. Tommy Burkett, of Lewis Run, Timothy W. (Michele) Burkett, of Gifford, and Terry (Tiffany) Burkett, of Bolivar, NY, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Donald E. Coast.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00am at the Hilltop Baptist Church, where a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, with Rev. Max Simms officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
