Shirley M. Hayden, a loving mother and grandmother, 87, formerly of 453 West Washington Street, passed away, Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home, surrounded by her three sons and their families.
Born December 4, 1927, in Brookville, she was the daughter of the late James and Naomi (Swineford) Neel. She was a 1945 graduate of Bradford High School.
On May 14, 1947 in Olean, she married Donald P. Hayden, Sr. who died on December 22, 1996.
Mrs. Hayden was primarily a homemaker but worked in the cafeteria at Bradford Central Christian High School and later for the Bradford Area School District at School Street Junior High School.
She was a member of the Church of the Ascension, the Alter Guild, Eastern Star, Chapter 61 and the Red Hats. She volunteered for many years at the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving are three sons, Donald P. (Debbie) Hayden Jr., Timothy A. (Cherri) Hayden, and Edward C. (Debra) Hayden all of Bradford, a daughter in law Deborah A. (the late James C.) Hayden of Bradford, 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, James C. Hayden, a daughter in law Mary L. Hayden and one brother Russell B. Neel.
Family will be receiving friends on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 10:00am to 11:00am in the Church of the Ascension where funeral services will be held at 11:00am with Rev. Stacy Fussell, Rector officiating Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.
