Nora L. Kearns

Nora L. Martinez Kearns, a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many, 71, of 126 South Ave. Bradford, passed away, Wednesday, April 1, 2015 surrounded by her loving family, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born April 2, 1943 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Alberto Martinez and Esperanza Morciglio.

On August 9, 1963 in Puerto Rico she married John T. Kearns who died on April 19, 1989.

She was a member of St. Bernard Church, and the Sunday Choir.

Mrs. Kearns was a graduate of the Catholic High School in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She had been employed as a painter at Helen Hume Shop, a sales clerk at Jaynes, a tailor for Thrifty Cleaners and later as a teacher's aid for the Bradford Area School District.

She loved to crochet, gardening, singing, crafts, drawing and painting. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
 
Surviving are three daughters, Maria (Kevin) Kearns Hannahs, Marta Kearns, and Marla Kearns all of Bradford, three sons John Kearns of Jamestown, Mark (Gina) Kearns, and  Michael (Amy) Kearns all of Bradford, one sister, Alcira Martinez, of Pasadena CA, 10 grandchildren, Jessica Kearns, Megan Hannahs, Jason Hannahs, Andrew Kearns, Greg Bednez, Marika Chiodo, Danielle Lutz, Allen Bednez, Victoria Kearns, and Ryan Kearns, 5 great grandchildren, Naomi Kearns, Armani Hannahs, Payton Eddy, Rowyn Reed and Kallen Reed, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Margarita Martinez and Inez Thacker, two brothers Hector Martinez, and Miguel Alberto "Mike" Martinez.

Family will be receiving friends on Monday from 3-5pm & 7-9pm at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., Bradford, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30am Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Bernard Church Building Fund,  the American Diabetes  Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
