Marshall Ernest

Marshall Ernest, 87, formerly of 369 Langmaid Lane, Bradford, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the Unity Hospital in Rochester NY, after a brief illness.

Born July 25, 1927 in Bradford, he was a son of the late Charles and Shirley (Nielly) Ernest. He was a 1948 graduate of Bradford High School.

On June 25, 1948 in Bradford, he married Betty L. (Ward) Ernest, who died on February 10, 2015.

On July 13, 1945 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. he served in the Pacific Theatre and the occupation of China. He was honorably discharged on November 5, 1946.

Marshall was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and the Quarter Century Club at Kendall.

He and his wife of 66 years were members of the National Square Dance Campers of America, the Bob-A-Lee Square Dance Club.

Mr. Ernest worked as a gauger and pump repairman at Kendall Refining Company.

Surviving are two daughters, Lorraine (Don) Cramer, of Holley NY, and Diana (Gerald) LaPlant, of Spencerport NY, one daughter in law Bonnie Ernest of Allen TX, one brother Clarence Brown of Buffalo NY, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Frances (Crandall) Ernest, his wife, one son Marshall Ernest Jr., two brothers Glenn Brown and Robert Ernest.

Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 11:00am to 1:00pm in the  Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave. where funeral and committal services will be held at 1:00pm with Rev. Patrick Cox, Pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.
