Jack A. Swanson

Jack A. Swanson, 83, of Willow Creek, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at The Pavilion at BRMC.

Born May 23, 1932 in Bradford, he was a son of the late Carl E. and Bernice E. (Foster) Swanson. He was a 1950 graduate of Bradford High School.

On October 31, 1953 in Bradford, he married Dee E. (Norton) Swanson, who died on April 6, 2010.

Jack enlisted in the United States Navy on January 9, 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on January 6, 1956.

After the service he returned to Bradford to work for Carl E. Swanson & Sons where he retired as President in 1991.

Surviving is one daughter Cyndi (Larry) Weis, of Pittsford NY, two sons, Evan (Barbara) Swanson of  Tucson AZ, and Alan (Mary Copeland) Swanson, of Bradford, three grandchildren, Carly Weis, Abby Weis and Hailey Swanson, one brother, Keith V. Swanson, of Bonita Springs FL, and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother Peter Swanson.

Family will be receiving friends on Thursday August 27, 2015 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 372 East Main St., Bradford, where funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday with the Rev. W. LeRoy Beckes, retired Presbyterian  minister, officiating. Committal services and Military Honors will be accorded in Willow Dale Cemetery by members of the American Legion Post 108.
