Robert E. McCann

Robert E. McCann, 74, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, of 31 Langmaid Lane, Bradford, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, at Bradford Manor.

Born December 29, 1940, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Basil and Florence (Rucinski) McCann. He was a 1959 graduate of St. Bernard High School.

On August 3, 1963 in St. Joseph Church in Mt. Jewett he married Maxine (Lerch) McCann.

He was a member of St. Bernard Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He taught Underwriting Courses in Olean, was a past board member for the American Cancer Society and volunteered for the Relay for Life. He was a member of the Rambler Association, Custer City Mens Club, and was an avid golfer. He was currently serving on the Zoning Board at Bradford Township.

He was employed at Kendall Refinery, later as a Sales Manager at Metropolitan Life, Sundahl Insurance, Bradford Electronics, and prior to his retirement at Smethport Specialty.

Surviving in addition to his wife Maxine of 52 years, are two daughters: Stacie A. (Rich) Riddle of   Acworth GA, Susan A. (John) McCann-Piganelli of Bradford, two sons: Robert M. (Tina) McCann of Bradford and Scott A. (Michele) McCann of Bradford, one sister Kathleen "Sis" (Jack) Gilbert of Duke Center., 8 grandchildren, Patrick, William, and Kaitlin McCann, Wyatt McCann, Joshua and Sarah Riddle, Evan and Andrew Piganelli, one great grandaughter Peyton McCann one uncle Al Pepper of Canton OH, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Kristin Anne McCann who died November 21, 1985, and one brother, Richard McCann.

Family will be receiving friends Thursday October 1, 2015 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 372 East Main St., where a prayer service will be held at 9:30am Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, Pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to: St. Bernard Elementary School, Evergreen Elm, Care for Children, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
