Mary Ann Johnson

Mary Ann Johnson, 92, of 54 Chamberlain Ave. died Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Bradford Manor.

Born July 30, 1923, in Bradford, she was the daughter of the late Harold O. and Isabelle E. (Edison) Crandall. She was a 1942 graduate of Bradford High School.

On November 14, 1942, in Olean New York she married C. Howard Johnson who died January 10, 2008.  They had celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Mary Ann was employed at McCroy’s, Tool-n-Toy, and Graham’s Greenhouse.  She was a Cub Scout Den Mother in the 1950s. 

She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time at the family camp, flower gardening, playing cards, and especially spending time with family and friends.  She was a wonderful cook. She always thought of others before herself.

She was a member of East End Presbyterian Church.

Surviving is a daughter Judy (Jay) Gorton of Bradford; a son Jack (Loretta) Johnson of Shinglehouse; two sisters: Barbara Thessen of Salamanca, and Sally Crandall Cross of Bradford and Moon Township, PA; five grandchildren: Dennis (Cindy) Gorton, Jeffrey (Kathy) Gorton, Nanette (Mark) Miller, Natalie (Bill) Dietze, and Jack (Tana) Johnson; fourteen great grandchildren: Anthony, Hailey, Orin, Ethan and Gavin Gorton; Kaitlyn, Dylan, and Nathan Dietze; Matthew (Dawn), Megan, and Michael (Christine) Miller; and MaraLyn, EmmaLee, and BayLeigh Kate Johnson; one great great grandson, Jackson Ace Miller; and several cousins,  nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother Fred Crandall, sister-in-law Gladys Crandall, brothers-in-law Bill Thessen, Larry Koebler, and Jack Cross, son Carl Howard Johnson, Jr., and great grandson Jesse David Johnson.

Friends are invited to call Friday, November 13, 2015, from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. South Ave. and again Saturday, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at which time a Celebration of Mary Ann’s Life will be held with Pastor Emeritus Richard Ricker of the First United Methodist Church of Fredonia officiating. Committal services and burial will be at Willow Dale Cemetery.

Memorials if desired may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
