Roger W. Burritt, Sr., 85, of 356 W. Corydon St., Bradford, passed away, Friday, December 25, 2015, at Bradford Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 3, 1930, in Hornell NY, he was a son of the late Arthur and Pearl (Bowkett) Burritt. He attended Canasteo schools.
On May 21, 1949 in Bradford he married Patricia L. (Burgess) Burritt who survives him.
Roger started his working career helping to construct the Kinzua Dam in the late 50's and early 60's. He worked a brief time for Sam's Appliance Store then in 1963 opened Burritt Appliance Store in East Bradford currently operated by his son Kevin.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing on Lake Erie, and could "Sit in a boat all day".
Surviving in addition to his wife Patricia of 65 years are two sons, Barry (Bonnie) Burritt and Kevin Burritt, both of Lewis Run, 5 grandchildren, Carrie Stiles, Steven Burritt, Logan Burritt, Cindy Keane, and Heidi VanPelt, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Roger W. Burritt Jr. who died October 31, 1989, five brothers Ron, Charles, Arthur, Ted and Robert and one sister Eleanor.
Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday December 29, 2015 from 10:00am to Noon in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., where funeral and committal services will be held at Noon with the Rev. Max Simms, Pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park Cemetery.
