James A. Ross

James A. Ross, 91, of 1275 High Street, Bradford, passed away, Monday, February 15, 2016, at his residence.

Born August 4, 1924, in Lewis Run, he was a son of the late Anthony and Teresa (Nusbaum) Ross.

On May 26, 1945, in the First United Methodist Church, he married Elizabeth R. "Libby" (Kuser) Ross, who died April 24, 2009.

Mr. Ross attended Lewis Run Schools and graduated from Bradford High School class of 1943. He was drafted into the United States Army on March 19, 1943. He served during WW II and was honorably discharged.

He returned to Lewis Run and worked for Hanley Brick, then Healy Petroleum and later at Dresser Manufacturing for 30 1/2 years in various capacities of management. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and gardening.

He attended Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church.

Surviving is a daughter, Marcia Ann Scheffer, of Lewis Run, 3 grandchildren, two granddaughters, Tammy Rene Scheffer, and her husband Neal Pignatora of Buffalo, NY and Tina Marie Stockton of Derrick City, one grandson, David Jacob Scheffer Jr., of South Carolina, 2 great granddaughters, Alicia Marie and Katelyn Marie, 2 great great grandchildren Elijah and Amelia, a sister, Irene Onuffer, of Lewis Run, two brothers in law, Joseph F. Kuser, of CA, and Edward D. Kuser, of Bradford, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Virginia Sankner and Margaret Pantuso and one brother, Edward Ross.

Family will be receiving friends on Thursday, February 18, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00pm, in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave. and again on Friday, from 10:00 to 11:00am.   at which time funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00am with Rev. Steven Collins, pastor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church officiating. Military honors will be accorded immediately after the service in the funeral home.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to a Charity of the donor's choice.
