Robert A. "Bob" Kirk

Robert A Kirk, 88, of 230 Jackson Ave, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born August 8, 1927, in Lamesa, TX, he was the son of Robert H. and Laura (Miller) Kirk. 

On June 17, 1951 in Texas, he married Hazel (Dollahon) Kirk who survives. 

He was a 1944 graduate of Lamesa High School. He graduated from Southwestern University with a degree in Business Administration and received his MBA from Texas A&M University. 

He served in the Merchant Marines.

Bob worked for Arthur Anderson as an accountant and auditor for a time and moved to Bradford in the late 1950's and joined Forest Oil Corporation, where he served as tax comptroller for many years, retiring in 1986.

He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and was a Certified Lay Speaker for 21 years. 

Mr. Kirk was a lifetime member of the Rotary Club of Bradford, with 55 years of perfect attendance, as well as being a Paul Harris Fellow. He was the first and only recipient of the Ham Redfield Award. He also had attended a Rotary meeting in all 50 states and 33 countries.

Bob was past director and president of the Bradford Area School Board.  He served as past director of the McKean County Crippled Children's Society and past president and director of the Bradford Public Library, both for over 30 years, as well as serving as past director of the YMCA and president of the United Way. He was also a volunteer at the Friendship Table.

In addition to his wife Hazel of 64 years, he is survived by a daughter, Rachel K (Steve) Estrada, of Dallas, TX; two sons James R. (Robyn) Kirk, of Mesa, AZ and Karl D. Kirk, of Ft. Worth, TX; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Nathan Kirk and three sisters.

Friends are invited to call from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Friday, February 26, 2016 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave. and from 10:00am to 11:00am, Saturday, February 27, 2016 in  the First United Methodist Church, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11am with Rev. Seth McClymonds, Jr., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery. 

Memorials, if desired, may be made to one of the many charities for which Bob volunteered.
