Raymond L. Nagel, Sr.

Raymond L. Nagel, 92, formerly of Limestone, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016, at The Bradford Manor.

Born August 22, 1923, in Arkwright, NY, he was a son of the late F. Raymond and Mary (Van Schooven) Nagel.

Mr. Nagel was a 1941 graduate of East Aurora High School. On February 10, 1941 he enlisted in the United States Navy, served during WW II and was honorably discharged on September 12, 1945. He remained in the Navy Reserves for 25 years and the Army Reserves for 5 years.

He had worked as a LPN Case Manager for the New York StateDepartment of Mental Health for over 34 years. While working for the state he also owned and operated a grocery store and farm with his family.

He was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church and a member of the VFW, and the American Legion.

Surviving is a daughter, Elaine Harris, of Limestone, three sons, Ray Nagel, Jr., of Bradford, Vaughn Nagel, of AZ; and Dennis Nagel, of CA. 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to three wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Bertram Nagel, a sister, Agnes Webb and a brother, Charles Nagel.

At the family's request there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 10 AM, Sunday, April 3, 2016, in the Limestone United Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert Beard, pastor officiating. Burial will be in New Albion Cemetery.
