Louis A. Pupo

Louis A. "Lou" Pupo, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, 88, of 17 Sullivan Road, Bradford, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016, with his family by his side, at The Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born in Johnsonburg on January 29, 1928, he was a son of the late Vincent "Jim" and Rose (Vallone) Pupo.

After moving to Bradford, he met Sue Anne Dudick, and on June 9, 1956 they were married at St. Bernard Church.

He was a 1945 graduate of Johnsonburg High School and received his Bachelors Degree in 1951 from Duquesne University School of Pharmacy.

Lou moved to Bradford in 1954 to begin a career at Ott & McHenry Pharmacy, a position he held until 1976. In August of 1976, he began working at the Bradford Hospital as a Pharmacist and Director of Pharmacy, where he spent 30 years as a beloved friend and colleague before retiring in July of 2006.

He was a member of St. Bernard Church, the American Pharmacy Association, and the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists. He was an avid sports fan and intently followed his Yankees, Fighting Irish, and Bills. “Papa” was the ultimate family man, and loved to be with his wife, sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed cooking the traditional Sunday spaghetti dinner, which consisted of his homemade sauce and meatballs. . 

Surviving in addition to his wife Sue Anne of nearly 60 years, are his three sons Thomas G. Pupo, of Warren, John V. Pupo, of Bradford, and Timothy J. (Pattie) Pupo, of Baltimore MD; one brother, Francis Pupo, of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Baumgart, of Jamestown NY, Kristen (Robert) Labbe, of Bristol CT, and Tiffani (Keith) Finnell of Cape Coral FL; three great grandchildren, Mason Baumgart, Ethan Labbe, and Charlie Finnell; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Michael, Salvatore, and Joseph Pupo; and a grandson, Michael Vincent Pupo.

Family will be receiving friends and relatives on Wednesday June 1, 2016 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, and again from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave., where a prayer service will be held on Thursday at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor, as Celebrant. Mausoleum entombment will follow in St. Bernard Mausoleum.
